Woman in stable condition after being shot

Suspect still on the run

YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – Yuma legislators are searching for the man who shot a woman in the chest.

Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Tania Pavlak said the shooting was “not related to any other crime.”

It all happened around 3:30 am on Saturday on West Clip Street near 47th Street.

The 25-year-old woman was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center and then flown to Phoenix where she is now in stable condition, agents said.

A woman who has lived in the neighborhood for five years said her sense of security was shattered.

“It’s scary because it happened so close to my house,” said Emma Islava, a neighbor at the crime scene.

She has no recollection of such a crime in her neighborhood.

Agents said they had no account of the shooter.

“And they are still on the run,” said Tania Pavlak.
