According to the Omaha Ward Herald, a worker survived an unexpectedly grueling ride through the roaring groundwater of the Omaha Sewer Friday morning.
This incident occurred when two workers, who are usually in charge of cleaning the sewage system, got caught in the sewage system. according to in the Omaha World Herald.
One of the workers was quickly rescued thanks to a tether, while the other, without a tether, drifted deep into the city’s sewers under heavy rain, the newspaper reported.
The crew’s ill-fated journey continued, where boats remained waiting as rescue workers and city sewer officials surveyed potential drift areas such as the Missouri River, according to the report.
Rescuers then scoured the city, paying close attention to manholes and sewer lines, searching for workers, the newspaper said.

The report said Public Works superintendents heard screams near the river, but visual contact had not yet been established.
Firefighters eventually rescued the worker, who miraculously escaped the roaring groundwater and remained afloat, the newspaper said.
“The pipe gets progressively bigger as it gets closer to the river,” says Omaha Fire Department battalion commander Jason Bradley. The report said the workers traveled about 1.9 miles underground and were rescued near the Missouri River and pump station.
