Working for the safety of Alabamians and supporting law enforcement: Britt honored with the Crime Stopper of the Year Award

Sen. Katie Britt Receives Crime Stopper of the Year Award

U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) is garnering attention for her strong backing of law enforcement and her initiatives aimed at tackling crime in America.

On Thursday, she was awarded the Crime Stopper of the Year Award by Metro Alabama Crime Stopper.

This year’s award coincided with the introduction of the “Laken Riley Act,” which mandates that illegal immigrants charged with theft, robbery, or shoplifting be held by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. This legislation, which has garnered bipartisan support, was signed into law by President Trump.

“I am truly honored to be recognized by Metro Alabama Crime Stoppers for my work in the Senate,” Britt said. “It’s a privilege to advocate for the safety of Alabamians and to support law enforcement efforts at all levels—whether it’s leading the Laken Riley Act or advancing critical immigration and border security laws, or pushing for vital funding through the budget process.”

Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization committed to enhancing safety in Metro Alabama by creating connections between the community and law enforcement. They provide cash rewards for information that leads to arrests, ensuring all tips are anonymous.

“In both Washington and Alabama, Sen. Britt is dedicated to addressing violent crime. She comprehends that upholding the rule of law extends beyond being a mere principle. Her role often involves tough decisions around sensitive issues, such as increasing penalties for those targeting children and ensuring swift justice for those who harm citizens,” noted a spokeswoman.

Recently, Senator Britt facilitated $14.4 million in funding to bolster local law enforcement and other significant projects across Alabama. As the chair of the Senate Budget Subcommittee on Homeland Security, she expresses pride in supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing safety in Washington, D.C.

A compelling illustration of her commitment is reflected in her leadership in support of the Laken Riley Act, named after a young woman whose life was tragically cut short by an undocumented immigrant.

“Senator Britt worked tirelessly to ensure the legislation’s passage, advocating for the removal of individuals who commit violent crimes against innocents, aiming to prevent further tragedies like Laken’s,” added Bearfield.
