WUSD School Board approves $270,000 in playground renovations | Williams-Grand Canyon News

WILLIAMS, Arizona — The Williams Unified School District (WUSD) Steering Committee held its first meeting of the year on January 13th.

During the meeting, Director John Romero was re-elected President and Carla Dent was re-elected Executive Vice President.

In other school board news:

The Board voted to approve both WEMS playground renovations and safety upgrades with Dave Bang Associates Inc. The $270,000 project was budgeted as part of his three-year capital plan for WUSD and is coming out of the capital expenditure account.

WUSD Superintendent of Education Eric Evans said:

The Board also voted to approve the retirement of Phillip Echeverria as Athletic Director of WUSD and Physical Education Teacher at Williams High School (WHS) effective June 30, 2023.

Evans and the board are looking forward to the new year.
