Yavapai College Budget Excludes Property Tax Increase

The Yabapai University District Management Committee (DGB) today approved the university’s proposal budget for 2025-2026 at its annual budget adoption meeting.

The university does not seek to increase the collection of major property taxes, and has declined without tax cuts for four of President Lisa Rhine’s four years of office.

The approved budget includes funding for university strategic priorities, initiatives and improved services for students and the community. The state funds less than 3% of the university’s budget.

Yabapai College is the best place to study in Yabapai County. This spring, 1,258 students graduated from Yabapai University with degrees or certificates. It has 1,258 firefighters, police officers, nurses, healthcare workers, business owners, skilled merchants and women now trained to enter the Yabapai County workforce, providing a better life for their families and contributing to the county’s economy.

YC meets the needs of students of all ages through learning and training opportunities and community partnerships. The university will serve as a stimulus for economic development, and investment in Yabapai University will return to the local economy. The university adds $203.7 million to the Yabapai County economy each year, with each dollar that students invest in education receiving $7.80 in future lifetime revenues.

Last week, Yabapi College became the first community college in the United States to offer a three-year bachelor’s degree when it announced its 92 credit bachelor’s degree in Applied Science in Business.

This degree not only allows students to obtain qualifications faster, but also offers a total tuition fee of just $9,482. This is one-fifth of the average price for the same degree at the University of Arizona.

Yabapai University is one of the most important values ​​in the state of higher education. By keeping tuition low, all Yabapai County residents have access to affordable, life-changing education.

Budget highlights:

  • YC’s basic tuition is $113 per credit hour, YC has no fees, and tuition is the third lowest in Arizona
  • Full-time students receive a discount and only pay $1,356 for a 15-credit semester
  • Yabapi College Tuition Fees 80% below the Arizona Public University average for full-time students, saving about $9,000 a year with tuition and fees alone
  • YC’s tuition fees are 36% below the national community college average for full-time students and 23% below the national community college average for part-time students
  • YC costs per student are average for National Community Colleges
  • 65% of YC programs lead to live pay jobs
  • YC currently offers four bachelor’s degrees, including a Bachelor’s degree in Business, a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and an Applied Science in Business.
  • In addition to full-time student discounts, YC offers high school students a dual registration discount of $10 per credit, a simultaneous registration discount for high school students with 50% off online classes, and a 50% off seniors’ discount for credit classes.

The Yabapai University District Executive Committee is responsible and responsible for governing on behalf of the Yabapai County taxpayers.
