Yavapai College Names New Division of Workforce and Innovation Leader

Yavapai University has announced the creation of a new Workforce and Innovation Division and appointed Dr. Kimberly A. Moore as Chief Workforce Innovation Officer.

Dr. Moore has 20 years of leadership in education, workforce development and innovation. She is currently Vice President for Workforce Innovation at Tallahassee Community College (TCC) in Tallahassee, Florida. Prior to joining TCC, Dr. Moore served as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the People Division for over ten years. In addition, her local Economic and Workforce Development Commission supports businesses and job seekers alike, making her the first woman, minority, and youngest person in the state to hold this position.

YC’s Workforce Innovation division was established to meet the changing needs of the industry and demonstrate our unwavering commitment to being the national leader in workforce and innovation. Yavapai College seeks to partner strategically with existing industries to provide a skilled and qualified workforce that will ultimately lead to a sustainable and vibrant economy. This includes playing a major role in helping attract new businesses to the region.

“The author of the book ‘The Great Upheaval’ best said, ‘Education is a growing industry in a knowledge-based economy, requiring a more educated and retrained workforce.’ This new department will help Yavapai University continue to be a leader in preparing students for the needs of today’s workforce and the innovation of tomorrow,” said Lisa B. Rein, Ph.D., President of Yavapai University. “Through short-term certification, reskilling of current employees, experiential learning and on-demand training, the Workforce and Innovation Department will serve as a bridge between industry and education in Yavapai County.”

The new division will cover areas of the College that already have a strong presence across Yavapai County, such as the Regional Economic Development Center (REDC) and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), with expansion and additional areas expected. increase. It adds features to support the development of agile workforce systems.

“I am humbled to be selected as the first Chief Workforce Innovation Officer,” said Dr. Moore. “My responsibility is to ensure that employers across Yavapai and Arizona have a talent pipeline that is ready for the current hiring landscape and future workforce needs. ”

At TCC, Dr. Moore has served in continuing education, career technical education, online workforce training, college apprenticeship and readmission programs (youth and adult), adult education, manufacturing, technology, entrepreneurship, TCC’s Performance Innovation Institute and non-professionals. Programs that include the Institute for Commercial Innovation and Excellence. During her tenure, she has earned a reputation locally, statewide and nationally as a leader in workforce, innovation and strategic partnership development.

In addition to his professional role, Dr. Moore has extensive connections with national and regional organizations including Leadership Tallahassee, Class 24 Leadership Florida, Class XXXIII, and co-chair of the Florida College System Workforce Education Council. I have. She has served on the Association of American Community Colleges, MakerUSA Advisory Board, Vice Chair of the Florida A&M University Board of Trustees, Wakulla Chamber of Commerce, Past President of the Leon County Research and Development Association, Immediate Past President of the Leon County Research and Development Association, Member of the Board of Directors, and many others. Served on several local and national boards. She has served as Founding Chairman of the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce and former Executive Director of the non-profit Institute for Innovation and Excellence.

Dr. Moore has received numerous awards and recognition throughout his career. Her workforce development program at TCC will continue in 2022 and she was named one of the Top 10 Bellwether National Finalists for 2023. In addition, she was awarded the 2021 International Idaline Carré Exemplary Leadership Award, the 2019 Economic Innovator of the Year, and the 2017 League of Innovation John and Xuan. She has won the Roueche Excellence Award and the Innovation of the Year Award. Additionally, she was inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame of her current educational institution.

Dr. Moore will officially enter Yavapai University on July 10, 2023.
