Yabapai County is proud to announce its participation in the National County Government Month (NCGM) throughout April. This is the time to raise awareness of the role and responsibilities of county governments and their impact on the lives of residents. This year’s celebrations are particularly special as Yabapai County partners with local high schools to recognize Student Government Day and introduces it to promote citizen engagement among the county youth this year.
National County Government Month is an annual compliance by the National Association of County (NACO) that highlights the critical services the county offers, from public safety and infrastructure to health and welfare services. Yabapai County is committed to transparency and engagement with the citizens to ensure that these services effectively meet the needs of the community.
“We look forward to celebrating National County Government Month and introducing the important work that county employees do to serve Yabapai County residents every day,” said the chairman of the overseer, Mary Mallory Committee. “This year, we are particularly excited to work with local high schools for Student Government Month. Understanding the importance of civic participation is important for the future of our community.”
Through April, Yabapai County will highlight the various county departments and initiatives through its website and social media channels. This partnership with local high schools includes a one-on-one opportunity to spend half a day with elected officials or department directors in Yavapai County and learn what it means to be a local government leader. The goal is to see first-hand how local governments function and encourage students to engage with active civic life.
Yabapai County will also invite the public to mark a calendar of the first states of the county speech, which will be held on September 16, 2025. This important event provides a comprehensive overview of the county’s achievements, ongoing projects and future priorities. Details regarding the date, time and location of the county’s address status will be released in the coming months.
To further strengthen the general understanding of the county government, Yabapai County has created useful videos highlighting its important functions and services. Residents are encouraged to watch this video. This video is now available on the Yavapai County YouTube channel. https://youtu.be/3ciprraztq4.
“We believe it is important for residents to understand how the county government works for them,” added Brooks Compton, vice-chairman of the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors. “We encourage you to watch county government monthly videos to learn more about the services we offer, and we also look forward to sharing progress and future plans at our county address in September.”
Yabapai County encourages all residents to take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about the county government and the important role it plays in the community.
