YCSO: Deputies involved in fatal shooting near Prescott

PRESSCOTT, Ariz. – Deputies with the Yavapay County Sheriff’s Office shot and killed the suspect during an argument near Prescott’s Sunday afternoon, officials reported.

The incident occurred shortly after 2pm, and deputies were called to the address of the city’s southwest, southwest Senators’ Highway for reporting shots heard in the area.

YCSO said “their lives were threatened after the deputies arrived,” and the deputies shot the suspect.

Authorities identified the suspect as 36-year-old Michael Aper of Prescott, but did not release any other details regarding the filming.

The law enforcement officer was not injured during the incident.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is handling the investigation.
