YCSO informs community about suicidal statement on social media | Yuma







Yuma — YCSO has notified the community of individuals who have posted suicidal statements on social media and of potential threats of violence.

The threat was brought to the attention of deputies around 5:00 am. The agency immediately began investigating the matter and notified local law enforcement of the potential threat.

During the course of the investigation, identified individuals were contacted and interviewed by agents and investigators. Authorities at this time say they were unable to verify a legitimate threat to the community.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office has the safety of our community as our top priority. The public will be notified immediately if legitimate threats are identified by the Office.

The original posts in question were dated April 6th and April 11th, with no mention of specific dates or events.

As with all situations, we are currently working with state, local and federal partners and mental health resources to ensure that we have exhausted all available resources for this investigation.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office takes all threats seriously and thoroughly investigates all allegations. They also have a duty to protect the constitutional rights of individuals in the course of investigations.
