YCSO issues alert for arrival of level-2 sex offender | The Verde Independent

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office issued the following Sex Offender Notification on February 20, 2024, in accordance with the requirements of the Sex Offender Act Community Notice ARS 13-3825.

Jason Boyd, 42, is a Level 2 (medium risk) sex offender who will live in Verde Village near Cottonwood on East Western Drive. He is not wanted by police at this time.

On April 16, 2014, the then 32-year-old offender was convicted in Maricopa County of two counts of attempted sexual assault and one count of kidnapping. Boyd was sentenced to three years in prison and lifetime probation in the Arizona Department of Corrections. The victim was a 31-year-old woman who was an acquaintance of the perpetrator.

Flyers are being distributed in the neighborhood where he plans to live. It is the responsibility of law enforcement officials in the area where the offender resides to notify the community. Notification is required when certain sex offenders are released from an Arizona prison, accepted under an interstate compact, or released from a county jail and returned to the community.

The notice describes Boyd as white, 6-foot-5, 235 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes and more than a dozen tattoos.

“This notice is not intended to incite fear. Rather, it is the Sheriff's Office's belief that an informed community is a safer community.” “It is unacceptable for citizens to misuse this information to intimidate, intimidate, or harass sex offenders.”
