YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) said her body was found by the side of the road late Monday morning.

YCSO identified the woman as Georgina Montoya, 35, of Somerton.

“The area being investigated is in a remote area of ​​Yuma County and the deceased woman was found by the side of the road,” said Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Tanya Pavlak.

Montoya was in an undeveloped area off of Avenue 1-E and County 18th Street, east of Somerton.

There are few houses in this area, but there are many acres of farmland.

Montoya’s death is listed as a homicide by the YCSO.

It’s the second murder in the area in a week.

Brady Hull, a local business owner in the area, said he wasn’t surprised.

“Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened. I just don’t understand the appeal…a body being found and a body being dropped here,” Hull said. .
