YCSO SWAT Team Captures Armed Suspect After Black Canyon City Manhunt | Prescott Valley Times local news







On Monday, March 4th, just after 1pm, a deputy from the Yabapai County Sheriff’s Office attempted a traffic stop in Black Canyon City, which initially stopped. The passengers in the vehicle then ran towards a nearby neighbourhood, looking like handguns. Utility workers in the area said they tried to take one of them hostage, but the workers were able to escape safely. The suspect then proceeded further to the neighborhood.

The YCSO SWAT team was immediately called out and a full-fledged man hunt began. Deputies worked with assistance from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, Chino Valley Police Department dogs, and the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office.

In cooperation with witnesses and a nearby residential surveillance system, the suspect was determined to have run to the South Boyd Sway property.

SWAT surrounded the property. A House search warrant was obtained and the suspect was taken into custody. The suspect was arrested on several charges, including fatal weapons and aggravated assault with danger. Related evidence was collected from the home where he was detained. Several other people were contacted and arrested for a public arrest warrant issued by the court in other criminal cases.
