Erika Kirk Addresses Supporters After Husband’s Death
Erika Kirk, the widow of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, spoke publicly for the first time since her husband’s assassination. She passionately addressed supporters on Friday evening, emphasizing that her late husband’s message “never surrenders.”
Charlie Kirk, 31, was fatally shot on Wednesday during a discussion at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. In her first remarks following the tragic event, Erica expressed gratitude to those who have supported her and her husband, including President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance.
“Honestly, I’m not entirely sure what this means right now. I know God will guide me, but I’m still trying to process it. Our world is indeed filled with evil, yet our faith remains strong,” she said, reiterating her reliance on God. “I’ve seen an outpouring of love globally for my husband. His dedication inspired me to marry him, start a family, and build my faith. That’s what truly matters.”
She continued, condemning those responsible for her husband’s murder, stating, “The people who did this don’t understand the impact of their actions. They took Charlie away for promoting patriotism, faith, and love. They need to realize the power that this has unleashed in our country and beyond.”
Charlie Kirk, known for engaging with students about political beliefs, was speaking to them just twenty minutes before the shooting occurred. Authorities reported that he had been stabilized at the hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Following a two-day manhunt, officials arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, identified as Kirk’s killer, after a family friend reported him.
Authorities disclosed that the bullet casing from the rifle had various phrases inscribed on it, including “Hey fascist! Catch!” and some references to a notable left-wing anthem from World War II.
Erica declared that the mission of Turning Point USA would “grow stronger, bolder, and bigger.” She reiterated, “We will not surrender. Our campus tour will continue to expand, reaching greater heights. My husband’s voice will resonate even louder amidst confusion and doubt.”
She went on to share a personal touch, mentioning her daughter’s innocent query about her father, saying he was “working with Jesus to help with your budget.” She ended her speech with heartfelt thanks to supporters, affirming, “God bless you all and God bless America.”
In the wake of Kirk’s death, many supporters and political figures expressed their condolences. Some Democrats, however, reacted differently, seemingly celebrating the loss of the TPUSA founder. Vice President Vance shared memories of their friendship, while Trump honored Kirk’s legacy by announcing plans to posthumously award him the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Trump reflected on Kirk’s influence, recognizing him as a “giant of his generation” and a source of inspiration for millions. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Erica and their family.
