Yuma Aces Vintage Base Ball Club goes back in time

Are you a baseball fan but don’t like modern games and new rules?

Well, the Yuma Aces, who start playing Saturday at Colorado River State Historic Park, will follow the rules of the 1860s…all wooden bats. They are dressed for the times.

The Aces are one of eight teams in the Arizona Vintage Baseball League. The other teams are the Bisbee Black Sox, Higley Haymakers, Mesa Minors, Peoria Smelters, Phoenix Senators, Tucson Saguaros and Maricopa Maidens, all-female teams (referred to as “our league”). think about it).

Darci Peralta is the manager of Aces.

“It’s family-friendly, so viewers enjoy it,” Peralta told KAWC. “It’s about the love of baseball and preserving its history.”

Peralta said she and her husband Johnny watched an old baseball game in Prescott and were hooked.

When it came time to name the Yuma team, Peraltas chose Ace because of the late Mike “Ace” Adrian who introduced them to the league.

The Aces play at CRSH Park at 10am and 2:30pm. Normal entrance fee applies.
