A festival celebrating Yuma’s agricultural heritage with local producers, chef demonstrations, live music, and more
by City of Yuma
The City of Yuma is ringing in the new year with events that celebrate Yuma’s agricultural heritage. The first Yuma AGFest will be held in downtown Yuma on Saturday, January 4th from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. This free, family-friendly event pays homage to the local growers who have earned Yuma the title of “Winter Vegetable Capital of the World.”
Formerly known as the Medjool Date Festival, Yuma AGFest has been reimagined to shine a spotlight on agriculture as a whole in the region. The event features something for everyone, including live chef demonstrations using locally sourced ingredients, community dancing, and live music performances including tributes to Jenni Rivera, Garth Brooks, and Shania Twain . Event visitors can also enjoy the Kids Zone and purchase food and drinks from a variety of local food vendors.
“The City of Yuma is excited to host an event where all of our local producers can showcase the produce they send around the world,” said Special Events Coordinator Brissa Garcia. “We’re looking forward to a great first event of the new year.”
Yuma AGFest is made possible thanks to the generous support of our sponsor Bingham Equipment, as well as Imperial Date Gardens, B&G Foods Inc., Allo Fiber, Gowan Company, Elite Farming, Arizona Department of Agriculture, Signmasters, KYMA TV, and ABC-5.
