Yuma, Arizona (azfamily) – A new residential complex for farm workers is set to be built in Yuma.
The Planning and Zoning Committee approved the project Tanimura and Entreone of the largest agricultural employers in the region.
Tanimura and Entre employ thousands of seasonal field workers to harvest the country’s agricultural and food supplies for travelling from California to Yuma.
The company’s apartment development will house nearly 1,500 agricultural employees from September to February during Yuma’s Peak Harvest Season.
Currently, the company houses employees in leased residential properties, but the new complex will help centralize workers.
Yuma City assistant planning director said this not only helps support the housing needs of farm workers, but also helps open affordable housing for Yuma residents.

Albers said this is the largest agricultural home of its kind in Yuma.
It is being built by Avila Construction, which built a similar project in Salinas, California.
