YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – The Yuma City Council will discuss several important topics at its meeting Wednesday, including the future of transportation.
For years we have been discussing the city’s plan to create a transport hub for the Hotel del Sol.
Yuma County Intergovernmental Public Transit plans to seek an extension to allow remaining grant funds to be used for design and pre-construction costs.
This will allow the funds to be used until September 2024.
This project has been around for years and is funded with federal grants.
A local man has high hopes for this project.
Yuma resident Miguel Otero said, “Once they’re back, get the building up and running… Now it’s the bus. I’m actually waiting for the bus. Good building. Save and store the building.” Please,” he said.
Other notable topics on the agenda include grant agreements with the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management.
The funds will be used to reduce and eliminate fire hazardous fuels.
This grant requires a 20% in-kind match.
The council will also discuss improvements to some local roads in the area.
