Yuma, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – The Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area will host National Space Day at the Colorado River State Historic Park.
The purpose of the event is to promote mathematics, science, technology, and engineering education to young people in hopes of inspiring them to pursue careers in science, especially space-related careers.
This is a free event, open to the public for all ages, and takes place on May 5th from 7pm to 9:30pm. A telescope viewing party will be held, but if it is cloudy on the day, the Yuma intersection may be canceled.
However, there are other things to do at the event such as attending educational booths, participating in arts & crafts and other activities.
This event is in partnership with Arizona Western College, Yuma County Regional Library, Yuma County Children’s Museum, and Yuma International Airport.
Parking is available at the front entrance and in an open lot at the corner of 1st and 2nd Avenues. However, pets are not allowed in the park.
