High school districts participate in the School Breakfast Program and the National School Lunch Program.
Yuma County, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – Yuma Union High School District (YUHSD) has announced that it will provide healthy meals in daily classes and students will be eligible to receive free or discounted meals.
YUHSD said San Luis High School, Vista High School, and Yuma High School will provide students with free breakfast and lunch for the 2023-2024 school year under special needs programs and community eligibility rules.
Students from the listed schools can participate in these meal programs without paying fees or submitting household applications, YUHSD said.
Cibola High School, Hillary High School, Kofa High School, and Somerton High School will provide complimentary breakfast under Part 2 of the Special Needs Program. Cibola High School and Hillary High School charge $4 for lunch.
YUHSD said students are eligible for free or discounted meals, with lunches for the 2023-2024 school year costing $0 for discounted meals.
YUHSD said that lunches at Kofa High School and Somerton High School are free to all students and that applications for free and reduced prices must be completed to maintain the program.
Students are eligible to receive free or discounted meals as follows:
- Belongs to a household whose income is below federal income eligibility guidelines.
- If you belong to a welfare-receiving household or if your child is homeless
- immigration
- run away
- pfister
- Join a Head Start or Even Start Preschool Program
According to YUHSD, household size and income criteria are used to determine eligibility for these benefits if the household does not receive assistance or if the student does not belong to any of the other categories above.
Students can get free or discounted meals if their total household income is less than or equal to the limits in the table below.
