YUMA, Arizona (KECY, KYMA) – Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs was officially sworn into office Thursday at the State Capitol.
Attendees included former Gov. Doug Ducey, John McCain’s family, and Arizona Senator Kirsten Cinema.

Alderman Mike Shelton said he is looking forward not only to the governorship, but to the changes it will bring to state government.
“We at Yuma look forward to working with the Attorney General, the Secretary of State, and the Governor, and I am confident we will have a great partnership,” Shelton said.
Mayor Doug Nichols also visited the Capitol, adding that he met with Gov. Hobbes twice after the election.
“They were mostly at the border and shared Yuma’s perspective, culminating in an invitation to visit that she said she wanted to do sooner or later,” Nichols said.
In his speech, Mr. Hobbes touched on the immigration problem and said he was looking to Washington for a solution.
“Hold Washington accountable for the collapse of the immigration system and its impact on our communities,” Hobbes said.
Newly elected state senator Brian Fernandez was also present.
A new parliament will convene next week.
