Yuma locals rally to collect donations for Los Angeles wildfire victims

Yuma, Arizona (azfamily) – There is a lot of generosity from the Yuma community, with countless donations poured into for those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires.

Yuma 4th Avenue Gym It serves as a drop-off site for donations to help those affected.

“People can stop by and we are open 24 hours a day. Justin Hale, gym owner on 4th Avenue, said:

Haile said it was the client who came up with the idea.

Alex Caro is a Marine based in Yuma. He said he wanted to help the people of Los Angeles, but he needed a place to make it happen.

That’s when he teamed up and contacted Hale.

“Literally within minutes of talking to him he was all about it about it,” Karo said.

Within hours of announcing the donations, the donations began to flow into the gym lobby.

“It warms my heart and warms that those fast people can come, support and donate,” Karo said.

Elizabeth Chairs Acosta and her family were also looking for ways to help, so they began making their own donations.

“I like to call this grassroots manipulation. We’re a bunch of people who said, ‘Hey, we want to help,'” Chair Acosta said.

She formed a team El Charo Cafe, Champion Churchand Cornerstone Preschool. These sites will collect donations through Friday.

She has carried a large amount of essentials to Los Angeles this weekend, contacting La Mission and La Dream Center.

Fourth Ave gym will collect donations until noon Thursday. Caro will promote donations to California on Friday.
