Yuma — A Yuma man has been arrested on multiple felony charges. Yuma police received a call on April 21 that Luis Angel Lopez provided harmful media to youth in the community.
Police said the boy had left his home and was believed to have been with Luis Angel Lopez. Information was obtained that Lopez and the boy fled the country to Mexico. As the investigation progressed, an arrest warrant was issued for Luis Angel Lopez.
The Yuma Police Department has partnered with the Yuma District Federal Marshals Service. As a result of a joint effort, Luis Angel Lopez was located in San Luis Rio Colorado and subsequently arrested on May 25, 2023. The boy was similarly located and both were deported from Mexico.
The boy was safely returned to his family, and Luis Angel Lopez was placed in the Yuma County Jail on multiple felony charges. The Yuma Police Department would like to thank Luis Ángel Lopez, and in particular all parties involved in the search for the boy, especially the Federal Marshals Service.
