Yuma Regional Medical Center Changes Name to ‘Onvida Health’

Yuma — Yuma Regional Medical Center is NO MASS.

The hospital announced its new name, Onvida Health, this week. Hospital officials say the new name better reflects the modern hospital culture.

“We are expanding care beyond our main campus and delivering care closer to where people live,” said Dr. Robert J. Trenchell, President and CEO. states. “Now more than ever, we are committed to remaining a pillar of this community. This is not an acquisition. This is not a merger. “This is an opportunity to make our communities more inclusive. Onvida Health demonstrates our commitment to providing the latest and best health care when and where patients need it.”

Trenchel said Onvida Health was inspired by the Spanish word “vida,” which means “life,” and represents optimism and celebrating life’s moments. He said the new name reflects the hospital’s commitment to expand care in southern and eastern Yuma County.

The hospital’s symbol, the “spark,” was “inspired by the spirit of our neighbors, friends, and colleagues,” according to a press release. “It’s the spark that drives our teams to do better, to be better, and to expand our potential. Together, those sparks move us forward and make our region healthier, more Good care and guidance towards a bright future.”

Dr. Trenchell said that despite the name change, the hospital’s commitment to service remains the same.
