Yuma Boy Dies After Shooting
A 14-year-old boy from Yuma was shot in the head and later died. A 21-year-old has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the incident.
According to authorities, the shooting occurred at a home on 17th Street on September 12. The boy was immediately hospitalized in Phoenix but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries on September 19.
Law enforcement has not released the name of the victim. They did reveal that the victim’s 21-year-old brother was present during the shooting and was initially questioned before being released as the investigation continued.
Following the announcement of the boy’s death, police confirmed that an arrest had been made. Jesus Alexander Silva, 21, was arrested on October 9 after sufficient evidence was gathered against him.
Silva is currently facing charges of second-degree murder and has been booked into the Yuma County Jail. As of now, no additional information about the incident has been disclosed.
