Yuma’s Truth in Taxation Public Hearing Set for June 24

All interested citizens are invited to attend a “Truth in Taxation” public hearing on the tax increase, which is scheduled to be held on June 24, 2024 at 9:00 AM in the Board of Supervisors Auditorium, 198 S. Main Street, Yuma, Arizona.

Pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 42-17107, Yuma County is notifying property tax payers of its intent to increase property taxes above last year's levels.

Yuma County is proposing to increase its main property tax rate by $765,991, or 2.06 percent.

For example, with the proposed tax increases, the primary property tax on a $100,000 home in Yuma County would be $242.06 (the proposed tax total includes the tax increase). Without the proposed tax increases, the total tax on a $100,000 home would be $237.17.

This proposed increase does not include any major property tax increases that would come from new construction, nor does this increase include any changes that may result from voter approved bond debt or property tax levies on budget and tax priorities.

Pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 48-254, the Yuma County Library District is notifying property tax payers of the Yuma County Library District's intent to increase secondary property taxes above last year's levels.

The Yuma County Library District is proposing a secondary property tax increase of $328,953, or 3.13 percent.

For example, with the proposed tax increase, the secondary property tax on a $100,000 home in the Yuma County Library District would be $69.23.Without the proposed tax increase, the total tax bill on a $100,000 home would be $67.13.

This proposed increase does not include any increase in secondary property taxes received from new construction, nor does this increase include any changes that may result from the levy of property taxes on voter-approved bond debt.

Pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 48-254, the Yuma County Flood Control Agency is notifying property tax payers that the Yuma County Flood Control Agency will be increasing secondary property taxes above last year's levels.

The Yuma County Flood Control Agency is proposing a secondary property tax increase of $122,655, or 3.80 percent.

For example, with the proposed tax increase, the secondary property tax on a $100,000 home in the Yuma County Flood District would be $24.87. Without the proposed tax increase, the total tax on a $100,000 home would be $23.96. The proposed tax increase does not include secondary property tax increases from new construction. The tax increase also does not include any changes that may result from the imposition of property taxes on voter-approved bond debt.
