According to The Hill, the bill recommends that police officers look at a person's past criminal history and “evidence of rehabilitation” when considering whether to deport a person. It encourages authorities to focus on targeting illegal immigrants who are considered a threat to public safety or a threat to national security or border security.
According to The Hill, because of a conflict between state and federal law, DUI convictions are not considered when deciding whether to allow a noncitizen or illegal immigrant to remain in the United States.
