Los Angeles voters will decide on six proposed charter amendments, including changes to the city’s controversial rezoning process and an overhaul of the city’s Ethics Commission.
“The Los Angeles City Charter spells out, among other things, the powers and duties of city departments, offices, and elected officials,” reporter Dakota Smith wrote. “Voters have approved 29 changes to the Charter since 2000, the last time a new Charter took effect.”
Drawing new boundaries for the City Council’s 15 districts has led to power plays, self-dealing, and even a showdown at City Hall.
