Arizona Attorney General Chris Mays is working on a post-march rally
Sedona – A peaceful crowd of over 900 locals overwhelmed Uptown Sedona on Saturday, April 5thth Carrying signs and chan chan as part of the biggest day of national protests since Donald Trump took on his second term.
Participants called on Trump and Elon Musk to maintain the “hands-off” programs, agents and services that Verde Valley and Arizona residents rely on. Sedona’s march and rally was one of the over 27 years of age that took place throughout Arizona. Participants came from all over the Verde Valley.
After the march, Arizona Attorney General Chris Mays told the crowd, “We are fighting back with what we call the Three Cs: courage, the crowd, the court.” She told protesters that she, along with a coalition of Democratic attorney generals, filed 11 lawsuits against the Trump administration.
“Our message is clear: we want Trump and unelected Elon Musk to keep him from taking his hands off healthcare, social security, private records and civil rights,” said Ellen Ferreira, one of the Red Rocks’ Democratic organizers and presidents.
President Trump has issued more than 100 executive orders in his current term. Many of them violate federal law and the constitution, with courts enacting or overturning stays.
Local groups supporting the march include the Individual, Individual Sedona, Sedona Women’s March, Democrats of Red Rocks, Verde Valley Democrats, Camp Verde Individual, Country Organisation Initiative, Individual Rimlock, Individual Codsunwood, Cornville and Clarkdale.
