Tucson (KVOA) — News 4 Tucson received an explosive 911 call to Border Patrol Ranch Liaison on the day George Kelly was accused of shooting a Mexican citizen.

The first call came at 2:40 pm on January 30th from the Border Patrol Liaison. He tells 911 that he received a call from Santa Cruz County Rancher George Kelly.

“He claims that there are people shooting at him and they are fighting back,” Liaison said.

Another call came in at 3:54 PM. Investigators said the five had large backpacks and possibly rifles, he called 911. Two hours later, I received another call from Border Patrol.

“He called our ranch liaison again, this time deliberately vague. I hit something with that word,” the agent said.

Kelly’s Ranch is about 1.5 miles north of the border and 8 miles east of Nogales.

In court, Kelly claims he fired warning shots at a group of men crossing his property.

The victim has been identified as Gabriel Kuhn, a 48-year-old Mexican citizen. He was found unarmed and shot in the back on Kelly’s property, according to law enforcement.

Kelly is currently facing two counts of second-degree murder and aggravated assault.
