Alabama Business Council Backs John Roberts for State Senate District 2
John Roberts, a seasoned real estate and development manager, has received the endorsement of the Alabama Business Council as he enters the race for the State Senate District 2 seat. This position will soon be vacated by state Sen. Tom Butler (R – Madison), who recently announced that he will not seek reelection.
A lifelong North Alabama resident, Roberts serves as a top executive at Freedom Real Estate & Capital LLC. His role encompasses various responsibilities, including business development, marketing, tenant relationships, and acquisitions.
“As we approach 2026, we’re committed to backing candidates who support the Alabama business community,” said Gary Smith, chairman of ProgressPac. “John Roberts has a proven track record in economic and labor development. His expertise in workforce preparation and local business growth makes him a valuable addition to the Alabama Senate.”
“ProgressPac is eager to support Roberts and is confident he will uphold these values and advocate for his constituents,” Smith added.
Roberts expressed his appreciation for the organization’s support, stating, “The Alabama Business Council knows what it takes to cultivate a robust economy, including policy, skilled labor, and resources for occupational creators. I’m honored to support my state Senate campaign and look forward to working with the BCA to advance the necessary policies for competitiveness.”
In addition to his professional roles, Roberts is involved with the board of directors for two nonprofits and the North Alabama Red Cross. He’s also a graduate of Leadership Huntsville C-21 and participates in the Blackburn Institute at the University of Alabama. Previously, he held the position of Business Retention & Expansion Director at the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce.
The Alabama Republican primary is scheduled for May 19, 2026.
