Coconino County Appoints New Emergency Management Director

Coconino County has announced that Tim Carter has been appointed as the new director of emergency management, effective retroactively from August 1.

Carter has a long history with the county, having worked there for 13 years in various capacities, particularly in emergency management as an expert and assistant director.

In his role as assistant director, Carter was responsible for fostering relationships between agencies, managing emergency notification systems, assisting with budget preparation, securing grants, and supervising the staff.

“I’m honored to take on the role of Director of Emergency Management and appreciate the county’s trust in my leadership,” Carter expressed. “We are eager to continue enhancing community preparedness, improving public safety coordination, and ensuring both residents and visitors remain safe and resilient against potential threats.”

Carter’s new position will see him leading a team of six emergency management specialists as they oversee the emergency business center.
