Contour Manufacturing and Mechanical (CFM), which specializes in mechanical maintenance and reel renovation, has opened a new facility in Cleburne County. This marks a significant development in Alabama’s rural industrial scene.
This initiative involves a $7 million investment and is anticipated to create 20 to 30 jobs, significantly benefitting the local economy and enhancing service capabilities for clients like Southwire.
“Rural Alabama communities play a vital part in shaping the state’s economic future. CFM’s choice to set up in Cleburne County showcases that progress,” stated Gov. Kay Ivey. “This investment clearly reflects the positive outcomes of collaborative partnerships and strategic growth programs, like the expanding Alabama initiative.”
“We are thrilled to welcome CFM to Heflin and look forward to what this will mean for the community,” she added.
Based in Lewisport, Kentucky, CFM is known for its quality and dependable service. The new facility in Heflin aims to broaden the company’s capabilities, targeting industrial clients in the Southeast.
Scott Dillback, co-owner of CFM, noted that “this helps us serve our clients more effectively while also providing jobs for the local community.”
The new facilities will be conveniently located along US Expressway 78 in Heflin.
“This location illustrates our commitment to quality and growth,” remarked Jason Young, another co-owner of CFM. “We are eager to support Southwire and strengthen our ties in Alabama.”
The decision for CFM to invest in Alabama received backing from state and local officials.
Recently, Gov. Ivey announced a $2 million allocation from the Growing Alabama Program, designated for the Cleburne County Commission to aid in site preparation and infrastructure development.
This funding is expected to facilitate a smooth and successful project launch.
“Heflin’s new CFM facility symbolizes the impactful growth we aspire to promote through our catalyst strategy,” explained Ellen McNair, secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce. “This project not only fortifies Alabama’s industrial landscape but also brings quality employment opportunities to rural areas ready for development.”
“We are proud that Cleburne County has gained momentum and is on track for a promising future,” she added.
Local Impact
The City of Heflin and Cleburne County Commission have been collaborating with CFM since early 2024, with the company selecting a new site positioned between Alabama and Georgia. This location will service Southwire in both West Georgia and Heflin.
“This is a proud moment for Cleburne County,” expressed Commissioner Laura Cobb. “We warmly welcome CFM Industries and value the work and economic stimulation they bring to our community.”
Construction is set to start in September, with a groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for the following month. Operations are projected to commence in early 2026.
Mayor Robby Brown, who played a role in attracting the company, remarked that the growth initiative will be beneficial for Heflin.
“I’ve enjoyed working with CFM over the past year and am excited for them to integrate into Heflin,” he added.
