International law enforcement closing in on suspect in Cochise County truck driver murder

Investigation Updates on Truck Driver Murder Case

Tucson, Ariz. – New developments have emerged in the investigation of a truck driver’s murder at a rest area near San Simon. The Cochise County Sheriff indicated that law enforcement agencies abroad are tightening the focus on suspects.

The incident occurred on February 15. Authorities believe it was a random act. The victim, Jack Chen, was on life support for five months before passing away in July, leaving behind a wife and three children.

Coordination is underway between U.S. authorities and the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office to prepare for the extradition of suspects from Uzbekistan. Investigators state that one suspect fled to Uzbekistan shortly before his arrest.

Jack’s son, Justin Chen, shared his thoughts on the incident. “What he did was wrong. I often think about what transpired during that encounter when the murderer attacked my father,” Justin noted.

Justin reflected on his father’s legacy, expressing a desire for ongoing conversations: “If I could talk to him more each day, I’d do that.”

Serving in the Navy, Justin learned of the attack at a particularly tough time. “I was in basic training,” he mentioned.

The cruel attack resulted in Jack Chen sustaining severe brain damage. “He was just a good guy, really honest,” Justin recalled.

Investigators had identified Azizbek Ahdoff, a truck driver from Pennsylvania, as a key suspect shortly before Jack Chen’s death. Ahdov escaped to Uzbekistan before being apprehended.

“He took a life here, and he needs to face the consequences,” said Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannel.

Sheriff Dannel confirmed that international law enforcement is closing in on Ahdov and expressed optimism about his upcoming capture. “We believe we will bring him back. It’s complicated, but we’ve made significant progress,” Dannel commented.

Authorities are preparing to present the case in the Great Ju Court to pave the way for the extradition process. “We’ll be there when he’s returned and placed in the Cochise County jail,” Dannel added.

“There’s a sense of relief knowing dad can finally rest easy now,” Justin Chen remarked.

Sheriff Dannel highlighted that besides Mexico, the Sheriff’s Office has not been part of this international pursuit for justice. They plan to approach the Great Ju Court next week in hopes of bringing Ahdov back to Arizona soon.
