When you’re craving Mexican food in Arizona, nothing compares to Mexican Chilaquiles Martin’s Breakfast Palace. A Flagstaff staple serving traditional and hearty Mexican breakfasts, lunches and dinners.
Known as the house the Chilaquiles built, this restaurant offers a choice of red sauce, known as Christmas style, verde sauce, or both.
It’s a cozy, welcoming space run by a mother-daughter team, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Everyone who steps inside is made to feel like family.
Anne Ozumun, Momamger at MartAnne’s, describes the restaurant as a sweet little cafe run by a family. The artwork inside the restaurant is Day of the Dead themed and was created by a former server.
They offer chilaquiles, rancheros, enchiladas, and several other types of specialties. “It makes me very proud and humbled to hear that MartAnne’s is a must-eat in Flagstaff, Arizona,” Osmun said.
Guest Wayne Raney suggested MartAnne’s Breakfast Palace as his number one recommendation. MartAnne’s is the only restaurant he and his wife go to all the time. “We love the food there. We have New Mexico-style favorites, and his wife and I love it,” said Lanny.
Our guest, Lanny, recommended the masa chips for an appetizer and described them as delicious. “They ate like tamales, but with melted Oaxacan cheese inside,” he said.
Guest Ara Lynn Nowack went for “El Ramirez,” a small pile of chilaquiles topped with pork green chili, chorizo and sour cream and served with a medium egg. “It was just the right amount of spice and I really enjoyed it,” she said.
For our guest, Rhonda Mathis, our server recommended the Enchilada y Huevo, a cheese enchilada topped with homemade red sauce, onions, and a medium-over egg.
“Our server recommended red sauce, which I love,” she said.
Ara Lynn Nowack and Rhonda Mathis drank horchata as a drink. They both agree that it was delicious.
To conclude the review, all guests agreed that the atmosphere was very eclectic. “The walls are adorned with ‘Day of the Dead’ themed paintings, and the walls are all painted red,” Lanny said.
