Virginia’s Governor Race Heats Up
On Fox News’ “Ingraham’s Angle” this past Friday, voter Matt Towerley emphasized the need for conservative media backing to inject “energy” into the Virginia governor’s race, where Republican candidate Earle-Sears is running against former Democratic Representative Abigail Spanburger.
A recent Roanoke College poll suggests that Earle-Sears stands a good chance against Spanburger. During the discussion, Laura Ingraham probed whether GOP candidates could outpace Spanburger amidst a potential Democratic advantage. Towerley responded, “No, I think you can win this race, but I think you’ve built a good point. That’s the conservative media, the other media. We didn’t have the energy we had four years ago. It has to happen.”
If Republicans rally behind this initiative, Towerley believes it could lead to a tight competition, giving Earle-Sears a significant shot at victory. “She is a great candidate in my judgment,” he added.
Despite Democrats feeling optimistic about flipping seats before the mid-2026 elections, recent voting trends indicate their approval ratings have plummeted to historic lows. A CNN poll from March recorded only 29% favorability for Democrats, a staggering 20-point drop since January 2021.
In fact, from the 2020-2024 elections, it’s estimated that Democrats lost roughly 2.1 million voters across 30 states and Washington, D.C. During the same time period, Republicans attracted 2.4 million more voters than Democrats, resulting in a net gain.
The race has gained attention, especially after a racially charged sign, aimed at Earle-Sears and backed by left-wing supporters of transgender rights, surfaced during an Arlington County Public School Board meeting. The sign stated, “Hey, if trances can’t share your bathroom, black people can’t share my water fountain.”
Earle-Sears responded to these supporters on social media, expressing her frustration: “I’m tired of it, but it’s not surprising. This is a ‘tolerant’ left Abigail Spanburger defends,” she said. “There is no place for this nasty hatred in our Federation. Anyone who does not condemn this sign is conspiring to approve it.”
