Marshall’s Senate Campaign Focuses on Key Issues
During a recent visit to Northern Alabama, Attorney General Steve Marshall outlined his priorities for the upcoming U.S. Senate race. He emphasized his commitment to combating federal overreach, supporting Alabama farmers, and advocating for military families, along with his ongoing work in criminal justice reform.
“We have to push the federal government out of Alabamians’ wallets,” he stated. “While revenue may fluctuate, costs are on the rise. It’s crucial that President Trump has a reliable ally to fulfill his agenda.”
Marshall pointed to his experience as a prosecutor as preparation for tackling difficult challenges, from local courtrooms to major statewide issues. He cited the Alabama opioid lawsuit, noting that his office was unwilling to accept settlements.
“Sometimes, you have to forge your own path,” he remarked. “We made that decision. It was a tense situation given Alabama’s interests, but my background as a local prosecutor informed our approach to filing that lawsuit.”
Initially, Marshall had no intention of pursuing a higher office and chose not to run for governor last fall. However, when Senator Tommy Tuberville announced he would not seek re-election, Marshall saw the opportunity and officially declared his candidacy in May.
“Much of the work I did as Attorney General aligns with the concerns a senator needs to address. I aim to uphold Alabama’s values and counteract federal overreach in this new role,” he said.
While early polls indicate he is leading the race, Marshall stressed the importance of not becoming complacent. “Polls suggest that people appreciate what I’ve accomplished as Attorney General. They’ve seen our readiness to take on challenges and deliver results. But, it’s still nine months until the primary.”
“Each day, we’re working to ensure Alabamians recognize what I can bring to the U.S. Senate,” he added.
Marshall was the first significant candidate to enter the Senate race this summer. Currently, he is joined by U.S. Congressman Barry Moore and former Navy SEAL Jared Hudson in the contest.
The Alabama Republican primary election is set for May 19, 2026.
