Host Erin Burnett Claims Trump Is Using the Murder of a Ukrainian Refugee to Promote His Nationwide Crackdown

CNN’s Erin Burnett Criticizes Trump Over Murder Case

On Monday, Erin Burnett of CNN accused President Donald Trump of exploiting the brutal murder of a Ukrainian refugee in Charlotte, North Carolina, to push his political agenda. The incident involved a homeless man, previously convicted, who allegedly murdered 23-year-old Irina Zartoska during a random attack on a light rail train. Burnett discussed this in her show, “Erin Burnett Outfront,” highlighting that Trump seemed to use this crime as justification for stricter national laws.

Burnett described the recently released surveillance footage as “horrifying,” emphasizing the violent nature of the crime. She accused Trump of “seizing” the incident to further his campaign for nationwide control measures.

In response to the murder, Trump expressed condolences to the victim’s family, referring to the attack as the act of a “madman.” He remarked on the disturbing nature of the events captured on film, suggesting that society needs to tackle such evil.

Interestingly, while the incident was serious, it hadn’t garnered significant attention from major national media until recently. Reports indicated that “CBS Mornings” only allocated around two minutes to the story, with CNN offering brief coverage as well. This lack of widespread media focus stood out, especially in light of the conservative response surrounding the video’s release.

On August 11, Trump announced governmental control over a major police station in Washington, D.C., as part of efforts to address increasing crime rates. This move followed interventions at a carjacking incident, further highlighting his administration’s focus on crime reduction.

In addition, the Trump administration initiated “Operation Midway Blitz” in Chicago and Illinois, aiming to crack down on illegal immigrants sheltered by sanctuary policies, following significant operations in other major cities.
