Sheriff Considers Charges After Ohio Democrats Distribute ‘Is He Dead Yet’ Trump Buttons at Fair

Ohio Sheriff Considers Charges Over Controversial Buttons at Fair

Reports indicate that an Ohio sheriff is contemplating criminal charges against Ashland County Democrats after they were seen distributing buttons that seem to express a wish for President Donald Trump to die.

An attendee at the Ashland County Fair raised concerns after reading the button, which stated, “he is still dead.” Following multiple warnings to remove the items, the sheriff’s office intervened by escorting the booth away.

Ashland County Sheriff Kurt Schneider commented on the situation, saying, “The red ball cap with ‘felon’ above it reads, ‘Is he still dead?’ and there are other references regarding his obituary—referring to the President of the United States.” He further elaborated on the numbers displayed, “86-47, which indicates the elimination of the President, the 47th president of the United States.”

Rep. Josh Williams expressed his outrage, noting, “Even after attempts to assassinate Charlie Kirk and the two President Trump, Democrats are still out for blood.” He added that despite Ashland County being predominantly Republican, Democrats still handed out the buttons, labeling it inappropriate. “This is not politics…” he emphasized.

A fairgoer expressed disappointment, stating, “That’s a shame, that’s a shame. It’s the exact opposite of what we need in our country now.”

Schneider has involved the Secret Service, stating that his department is weighing the threats posed by the buttons. He remarked, “Everyone can say anything, right? But what is the outcome of what you say? This kind of nonsense, you can go somewhere else.”

In a written statement, the Ashland County Democrats claimed they faced “censorship” and felt “silenced” by Republicans and two sheriff’s deputies. They referenced historical abuses of power, arguing, “We’ve seen cases of power abuse before… But even so, state machines were not deployed on a daily basis to silence the chairs of conflicting parties at community events.”

They did, however, acknowledge in their statement that the button was inappropriate, saying, “We hear people in our own party and those in our opposition find those buttons taste bad. Looking back, we should have thought more about this given the high emotion following the assassination of Charlie Kirk.”

The Ashland County Democrats have not responded to requests for further comments.

In connection with this controversy, a recent poll by Napolitan News Service indicated that 24% of Democrats believe the country is “better” now that Charlie Kirk has been killed, while earlier polls showed that a significant portion of leftists view figures like Elon Musk and Trump as somewhat justified in their actions.
