Brit Hume Believes Trump ‘Deserves a Clear Shot’ at the Nobel Prize

Brit Hume on Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize Chances

Fox News analyst Brit Hume stated that President Donald Trump could be a strong contender for the Nobel Peace Prize, thanks to his role in establishing a ceasefire in Gaza.

On Wednesday, President Trump revealed that Israel and Hamas have initiated the first stage of a 20-point peace plan, which entails the release of all hostages currently held by Hamas. Hume discussed this on Fox News with host Martha McCallum, suggesting that this accomplishment positions Trump as a legitimate “candidate” for the Peace Prize, especially considering former President Barack Obama won it shortly after his 2008 election.

“Today marks a significant occasion, and while the president is looking ahead to Monday and Tuesday, it’s certainly thrilling to talk about the Nobel Peace Prize,” Hume said. “However, I find it a bit puzzling why he would desire it, given that the Peace Prize has seen a loss of credibility among neutral observers since they awarded it to Barack Obama, who, to be fair, didn’t do much beyond getting elected.”

Yet, Hume acknowledged that Trump seems to have a strong desire for the recognition, noting, “He obviously wants it and appreciates the prestige associated with it.”

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been engaged in military actions in Gaza following a series of deadly attacks by Hamas, which resulted in over 1,200 fatalities. The group also took more than 200 hostages, with 48 Israelis believed to still be captive, 20 of whom are thought to be alive.

Despite outlining Trump’s efforts toward peace, Hume expressed uncertainty regarding the likelihood of Trump receiving the Peace Prize. “The president has made attempts to foster peace, and he’s played a significant role in halting various conflicts worldwide,” he mentioned. “If we were to apply the same standards that led to Barack Obama’s award, Trump would surely be in the running, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.”
