Yavapai County lifts fire restrictions | The Verde Independent

PRESCOTT – Yavapai County will lift Stage 2 fire restrictions and outdoor fire bans on Friday, July 15.

Restrictions have been in place throughout northern Arizona since late May.Coconino National Forest lifted restrictions on June 28.

Yavapai County and U.S. Forest Service officials determined that recent rainfall has reduced the fire risk, according to a news release Thursday.

“Precipitation is increasing in the county,” Yavapai County emergency manager Ashley Ahlquist said in a statement. “In Prescott National Forest, he can be found in the range of 0.66 to 4.66 inches throughout the forest. In addition to increased precipitation, forecasts of more rain for the next few weeks and a moderate fire index will see the withdrawal of restrictions. are supporting.”

This decision affects all locations in Cottonwood, Sedona, Camp Verde, and their surrounding unincorporated areas, the Quad City area, and the Northern, Central, Eastern, and Southern Fire Ordinance areas of the county.

“While we recognize the inconvenience of imposing these restrictions on our community, we are working hard to protect our local forests and homes,” said Mary Mallory, chair of the Board of Supervisors. “Fire danger within Yavapai County is a serious concern and we appreciate your efforts to protect our great county.”
