Phoenix (3TV/CBS 5) — It’s heartbreaking to hear, but early Thursday morning a tiny pug was found abandoned in a dumpster near the Maricopa County animal shelter.

of Maricopa County Animal Care and Management Shortly after someone let her in and left, an employee at the West Campus Shelter posted on Facebook that she had found the dog in a trash can. However, upon closer inspection, I noticed that there was a pug inside. The unidentified person then reportedly ignored requests to come to the shelter during business hours and instead yelled and drove off.

“Thank goodness she’s happy, healthy and eating well!” Shelter wrote on Facebooknamed the pug puppy “Dumpling” and said it was available for adoption. Hours later, she found her forever home.

The shelter also wants to remind Arizona people that there are many resources to help them care for their pets. “If you or someone you know is in trouble, please work with us.
