Every ten years after the official U.S. Census is completed, federal state and local governments must complete the redistricting process. On July 1, 2022, Pinal County’s redistricting took place, joining the communities of Superior, Kearny and Winkelman into Gold Canyon, Apache Junction, Queen Valley and part of Florence in District 5 .
Jeff Serdy is the County Superintendent for the 5th District. After he served as mayor on the Apache City Council, he ran for county superintendent. When the city of Apache Junction was considering new laws on the disposal of firearms, he decided to get involved in local politics at the municipal level. He quickly found that he enjoyed serving and problem-solving, and ran for mayor. During his tenure as mayor, he focused on marketing and promoting the city’s natural beauty and attractions.
Serdy grew up in a rural community in Ohio. He has worked in a variety of specialties including oil and gas, wildlife management and has also worked for Shamrock Foods. He had the opportunity to open his own firearms store in Apache Junction and has devoted himself to his business ever since.
As county supervisor since 2021, he’s learning that Pinal County is fast becoming an urban county in many areas, but District 5 is one of the counties people visit for recreation. I see great potential to continue to be part of the department.
“The main attractions are the 5th Arrondissement, Renaissance, Lost Dutchman State Park, Goldfield Ghost Town and Boyce Thompson Arboretum.
He is the champion of the Resolution Copper project and mining in general. Serdy has worked since he was mayor of Apache Junction, and now he works as the Pinal County Supervisor to repair and reopen the Apache Trail.
“I think we can restart in two to five years,” he explained.
He is a strong supporter of the expansion of Arizona Highway Extension 24, which will ease traffic through Gold Canyon on Route 60. He also wants Pinal County to focus on bringing more jobs to the county. come; in the past, the focus was on building houses, but then jobs were born. With new manufacturing coming to Coolidge and Casa Grande, there will be a need for housing throughout the county.
It is important for him to maintain open lines of communication. He encourages voters to contact his office at Apache Junction by phone or email. He and his staff are ready to serve. They can be reached at jeff.Serdy@pinal.gov or by phone at 520-866-6106. Additional contact information can be found online. https://bit.ly/3zy37WW
