Yavapai County, Arizona — A 44-year-old woman died after falling about 20 feet off a cliff at West Clear Creek, officials said.
Jennifer Petrie fell Monday afternoon from an area known as “The Bluffs,” according to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office. A female friend of hers told authorities she had fallen off a cliff and disappeared.
A search team was able to find Petri at the base of a cliff just above the water’s edge. According to the YCSO, a helicopter transported police officers to the area to rescue Petri before it was determined she was already dead.
Her body was airlifted out of the canyon and YCSO is investigating how she fell.
