The Coconino County School District is now accepting nominations for the 2023 Teacher of the Year. District officials say it’s an opportunity to give teachers a voice as they face many challenges, including statewide staffing shortages.
Nominations for Teacher of the Year, Rookie of the Year and 2023 Lifetime Achievement Awards are now open.
Coconino County Superintendent Sheryl Mungo Padgett says it’s a great time to recognize educators who regularly go above and beyond.
“The transformative power of effective teachers is something that nearly all of us have experienced and understood on a personal level. but also increase opportunities to live the best lives possible and give back to our communities.”
Candidates must have taught for at least four years to qualify for Teacher of the Year and one year to qualify for Rookie. The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes educators, staff and administrators with more than 20 years of service.
This year’s competition comes at a time when Coconino County and other school districts across the state are facing record rates of teacher turnover.
The deadline for nominations is September 30th. For more information on the competition and nomination form, please visit: coconino.az.gov/1863/Celebrate.
