John Lee Easterday – The Carroll County Messenger

John Lee Easterday, 83, of Dover, Ohio, died early Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Altman Hospital in Canton.

He was born on April 1, 1940 in Canton, Ohio, the son of the late John W. and Florence Rebecca (Beckley) Easterday. In addition to his parents, he also had his daughter Kathy Warner, brother Robert Easterday, sisters and brothers-in-law Sandra Kay and Charles Flanagan, and great-granddaughter Kylie Warner, who died earlier. .

John graduated from Carrollton High School in 1958 and was a longtime member of the Delroy Church of the Nazarene. He, along with his wife Pat, was the former owner and operator of Delroy’s Old P&J Market and Delroy’s Laundromat, Atwood’s Dali’s Bar near Lake Atwood. He also previously worked for the US Ceramic Tile Company in East Sparta and was a mold maker at the former Hercules Engine Factory in Canton. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing at Lake Atwood and was fond of woodworking. John played cards, told jokes and socialized with his family and friends. Playing the piano and accordion was also one of his talents. But mostly, John was most concerned with his family’s well-being and enjoyed spending time with them. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and will be missed by his family and many friends.

He lost his wife, Patricia Ann (Moreland) Easterday, whom he married on January 23, 1958. his four children. Steve (Deb) Easterday from Strasburg, Ohio; Randy (Dolly) Easterday and Valerie (Rodney) Yost from Carrollton, Ohio; Tracy (Joan) Easterday from Wadsworth, Ohio. son-in-law, Jeff Warner of Bowerston, Ohio; Siblings, Richard “Dick” (Barbara) Easter in Apache Junction, Arizona. Sister, Mrs. Jean (Tom) Welch of Surprise, Arizona. 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 11, at 1:00 p.m. at Delroy Church in the Nazarene and will be officiated by Reverend Julie Kelly. Burial will take place at the Levitsville Cemetery. Call hours are Tuesdays from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm during church services.
