Despite his middling record as a head coach, no one can deny Cliff Kingsbury’s résumé as a quarterback coach. I’ve worked with Johnny Manziel in Houston and Case Keenum in Houston. In Arizona, Kyler helped Murray win his NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2019 and his two appearances in the Pro Bowl. At USC, he will back his Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams. USC is adding a vague face to its coaching staff as Cliff Kingsbury joins the Trojans as an offensive analyst, according to multiple reports.
Kingsbury, 43, has spent the last four years as head coach of the Arizona Cardinals after six years as head coach at his alma mater, Texas Tech University.
Between these two terms, Kingsbury spent just over a month at USC. After being fired from Texas Tech after the 2018 season, Kingsbury was hired by Clay Helton to become the Trojans’ offensive coordinator and quarterback coach. and was replaced at USC by Graham Harrell.
Kingsbury’s results as head coach have been mixed. He made the postseason once in Arizona, but in his four seasons in the NFL he finished 28-37-1 and in Texas he finished 35-40 at Tech.

Back at USC — the move was first reported by NFL Network — Kingsbury is teaming up with the quarterback again, adding another perspective that Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams can count on.Kingsbury and USC head coach Lincoln Riley is part of the Mike Leach branch of the Air Raid tree.
Kingsbury and Riley were teammates at Texas Tech the season before Kingsbury entered the NFL Draft and Riley began his coaching career with the Red Raiders.
