A bear chases a dwarf terrier after a brief confrontation in a Connecticut backyard

The tense exchange was caught on ring cameras as the grumpy 8-year-old Terriermix briefly confronted the bear until he was cornered on the porch of his Farmington, Connecticut, home on May 11. Homeowner Julie told Storyful. Her terrier, Dixie, weighs 20 pounds, but she regularly “barks at people and things that come into her yard” to guard her home. Julie said she let her Dixie out in the morning, but she didn’t mind her barking at first. She explained that she went outside to scoop Dixie up as her Dixie meow turned into an “alarm/something is wrong” meow. the floor we stood on. That’s when I knew what happened,” she said. “I didn’t know Dixie was being chased by a bear until I saw surveillance footage from a backyard camera.” After that she stopped running but she kept barking when her bear started running towards her. She is seen turning her around and dashing towards her house as the bear chases her. The dog is safely evacuated when the bear peeks over her railing in her face.Credit: Julie, from Storyful
