Republicans in Arizona should pay attention to what happened this week in the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.
Republican nominee Rachel Mitchell in 2022 said she would not prosecute two Phoenix police officers who shot and killed a man who threw stones at a police car.
Mitchell took charge of the case because he did not run as a MAGA Republican.
She didn’t kiss Trump’s ring. She didn’t climb the barrel of Stop the Steel and smash across Fantasy Falls like so many other Arizona Republicans.
No, she ran as a traditional Republican. And she won.
What will happen to us if Rachel Mitchell loses?
As a result, Mitchell didn’t sit on the sidelines this week tending to wounds or playing the victim of a phantom scheme of election theft.
She was making a breakthrough as protesters and lawyers claiming wrongful death demanded that two police officers be fired and sent to jail for shooting Ali Osman.
Osman, 34, didn’t just throw stones near 19th Street and Glendale Street on September 24th. He was whipping the police at point-blank range with all his might.
It may be news to some, but to cops it’s not news that a thrown stone can cost a life.
Republicans still obsessed with Donald Trump and willing to risk a GOP loss in the fourth election cycle to make him and the other MAGA candidates their party’s nominees in the 2024 general election. Members, it is time to consider counterfactuals.
What if Rachel Mitchell lost?
What if she wore a red ball cap and campaigned like Kari Lake, Abe Hamede, Blake Masters and Mark Finchem – you know, a loser? Huh?
Perhaps those cops will face a dark future
The contents are as follows.
Lawyer Julie Gannigle, funded and bred to resemble a Democratic prosecutor who is gentle on crime but tough on police, will be your county attorney today.
Mr. Gunigl was to become the next Mr. George Gascon. As the Los Angeles District Attorney, Mr. Gascon was famous for his gentle treatment of violent criminals.
She was to be the next Chesa Boudin. The San Francisco prosecutor has proven to be so felon-friendly that even the left-wing Bay Area can no longer follow him.
Gunnigur wore his disdain for cops like an imperial feather, flirting with plans to defund cops and plotting a tribunal to investigate it.
If Mr. Ganigur wins the job as county attorney, the two officers are likely to face a bleak future.
Mr. Ganigur, who ran for office, demanded $85 million for Mr. Osman’s death, a lawyer who claimed it was “another disturbing example of the extreme indifference to human life that state power continues to display.” would probably have sympathized with [Phoenix Police Department] and its officers. “
Phoenix Police Action Justified
On Wednesday, Mitchell stood his ground and said it was actually Osman, who had shown extreme indifference to human life, who threw the stone.
The stones Osman threw “posed a serious threat to all motorists and pedestrians in the area,” Mitchell said.
“Osman had a stone in his hand and was about to throw it directly at the police when they decided to fire. Given that, it was reasonable.”
The left hates to hear this, but police officers have to make split-second decisions that will determine whether they live, die, or spend the next few decades in prison.
They are under extreme scrutiny due to their extraordinary ability to bind people or take their lives in extreme situations.
For Mitchell and Gannigle:“Who won in 2020?” is a trick question
We don’t expect doctors, lawyers, and teachers to wear body cameras. We expect the same from the police.
On the other hand, the personal risk that the police take is so great that we enacted laws to ensure that we would not crush any police officer acting with integrity in the event of a tragic incident.
Mitchell then explained: “The law does not require a person to use lethal physical force to justify his actions. It seeks to prove beyond reasonable doubt that it was not justified under the law.”
Under Arizona law, the officers’ decision to shoot was justified, she said.
Why Republicans Need to Win Elections
Across America, the American Left has worked to demoralize and marginalize police officers. They openly treated them as wild beasts and made their job a living hell.
Yes, it is good and right to condemn police brutality when it happens. But it is a mistake to stereotype one million American police officers as thugs.
The Democrats elected a district attorney who despises police officers and spoils criminals. They want to drain police resources across the country because they stigmatize uniformed men and women.
As a result, police work has become garbage.
Police officers are retiring early, and few young people want to become police officers. Both in the U.S. and in Phoenix, police recruitment has declined significantly.
Criminals have turned department stores and pharmacies in major cities into wickets for shoplifters. Big cities have stripped police officers of the power to remove loitering and vagrancy, making Los Angeles, Portland, San Francisco and Seattle look like vast skid rows.
Last week, comedian Dave Chappelle took a good look at San Francisco and asked the audience there, “What the hell happened to this place?”
“People… we need Batman!”
Maricopa County has county attorneys who have the courage to defend police officers when the facts prove it.
She’s there because in 2022 she wasn’t just a MAGA sheep heading to the slaughterhouse. she won the election.
And when she won, we won too.
