Man dies after suicide attempt at Pima County Jail

A 38-year-old man died in a Tucson hospital on Thursday, five days after he attempted suicide at the Pima County Jail, officials said.

Pima County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Gordon Downing said Louis A. Williams was pronounced dead around 8:45 a.m. Thursday.

Downing said that around 11:40 am on Saturday, May 20, prison guards on patrol found Williams attempting to commit suicide.
