Mary Louise Ballard – Sanilac County News

Mary Louise Ballard Marlett, 99, died Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at the Marlett Regional Hospital long-term care facility.

Mary was born on April 14, 1924 in Boulder, Colorado to the late Leslie Plummer and Margaret (Owen) Plummer. She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, where she graduated as a class of 1942. She married Robert “Bob” Ballard on September 23, 1944 in Tavares, Florida. They moved to Marlette in her late 1940s, where Mary became postmaster. She worked for the United States Postal Service for 30 years. Mary loves to crochet and she used to make throws for the Saginaw Veterans Hospital. She also enjoyed following her Detroit Tigers and her NASCAR. She spent beautiful Michigan winters in Apache Junction, Arizona.

Mary has two daughters, Deborah (Craig) Borgman and Robin (Elliott) Passman. her son, Roger (Leslie) Ballard; son-in-law, Roger Bailey; Grandchildren Leslie (Daniel) Incandela, Julian (Ariel) Bailey, Andrew Passman, and Isaac Borgman. Great-grandchildren Henry and Ethan Incandela, and Lincoln Bailey.

Mary’s parents died before her. and her husband Robert “Bob” Ballard. her daughter, Carolyn Bailey; her sister Nina Lindsay;

A private family funeral is scheduled for a later date.

A memorial may be built at Marlette Masonic Lodge #343.
